1964 Triumph TR4

This Triumph TR4 was ordered new in Triumph Racing Green, with a black interior. It was repainted in black and later in orange, together with some cover-up body work. In the late 1970’s, the car was parked after a front collission damage. It remained untouched for some 45 years and is now an excellent candidate for a thorough body-off restoration.

The chassis has a good amount of surface rust, with one visible older patch repair. It is straight and was not affected by the front damage, other than some light deformation around the bumper bracket mounts. The body requires more metalwork: Both inner and outer sills need to be replaced, while repair work is needed on various other areas of the body tub. The floors appear to be solid, but will likely show pinholes after bead blasting.

As for the collission damage: the front of the body tub is definetely repairable. Most affected were the bumper, front fenders and bonnet. They were disposed off a long time ago and are therefore no longer with the car. The windshield is also missing.

The Triumph’s interior is in complete and original condition and should be completely renovated. 55.564 mls on the odometer.

This car has a free turning engine and a standard 4-speed gearbox. The commission, body and engine numbers on this TR4 are likely matching, but the original overdrive gearbox was later swapped with a standard 4-speed unit.

A great project for a hands-on Triumph enthusiast with metalworking skills.
