We bought this MGB in Alabama, USA. An original survivor, the car has been with the same owner since 2000.
The MGB has a well-preserved body. Presented in its second coat of Carmine Red, the paint is weathered and worn. Floors, sill panels and lower fenders all look solid and original. The left front fender was replaced in the past, and shows traces of Tundra Green where the paint has come off. Ideally, the MG should be treated to a bare-metal respray, which may be combined with a conversion to chrome bumpers.
The interior is generally in good condition, but might benefit from some cosmetic improvements. The dashboard vinyl has a tear in the top central section. Both door cards show their age. The seats appear to have been recently retrimmed and the soft top is in good condition. 87.464 mls on the odometer, believed to be original. One set of keys, factory instruction manual and BL passport to service. A convertible top cover and tonneau cover are included.
The MGB runs and drives well, but would need a service check up, as its service history is unknown. Equiped with a desirable overdrive, the gearbox shifts well and feels tight. Suspension bushings and dust covers are old and should be replaced. A carburettor conversion was caried out in the past, replacing the single Stromberg with a Weber. The emission equipment has been removed.
A nice and honest MGB that can easily be upgraded to a higher level.
