This 1972 Mercedes 450SL is an early car, with the distinctive small bumpers. It comes out of long term ownership and was acquired from the previous owner's local church in Washinton state, USA. The 450SL is being offered as a project car, in need of restoration work.
The Mercedes R107 needs body work in various spots. Repair panels needed for the floor boards, left and right hand boot floor panels and the lower left front fender. The trunk lid is rusted through on the rear inner edge, but could be repaired. The doors and sills on this 450SL look solid and there are no noticeable signs of collision repair work. It was sold new in DB735G Astralsilber, but was repainted in the current gunmetal grey metallic a long time ago.
The interior will need to be completely refurbished. The dashboard top is cracked, the seats and door panels need to be retrimmed and the car needs a new carpet set. The soft top should be replaced and the hardtop needs refurbishing work to be perfect again.
It was told that this Mercedes ran and drove when it was handed over to the church. Registration expired in 2017. It starts and runs, but injectors are clogged and the exhaust manifold gasket is leaking. 196.445 mls on the odometre; no service history available.
