1966 Ford Mustang

We found this 1966 Ford Mustang in the California Napa Valley. The previous owner acquired the car in 1989, and it appears to have seen little to no use over the past two decades. As such, this Mustang now requires a full restoration, but it offers a very solid and honest starting point.

Originally, the car was delivered in Silver Blue with a light blue interior featuring medium blue contrast accents. Decades ago, it was repainted black. The current paintwork is heavily weathered and shows cracking, peeling paint, visible body filler repairs and areas of surface rust. Despite the poor cosmetic condition, the body itself is exceptionally solid; we could not find any perforative rust in the body structure.

From the factory, this Mustang was equipped with a 200 cubic inch inline six-cylinder engine and a three-speed manual transmission. At some point in its life, it was upgraded to a 289 V8 engine paired with an automatic transmission. The engine turns freely by hand and was parked with clean oil and a fresh-looking Pennzoil oil filter. Visible upgrades include Holley aluminium valve covers and electronic ignition.

The interior remains in original condition and will require renovation. The odometer shows 40,079 miles. The car currently rolls on two original steel wheels and two aftermarket alloy wheels. The fuel tank should be replaced as part of the recommissioning process. A full set of keys is present. Missing items include the trunk lid lock cylinder (mechanism included), spare wheel, and tool kit.

This Mustang is offered as a restoration project, combining a very solid body, a desirable V8 drivetrain and an honest, unrestored presentation. An excellent basis for enthusiasts looking to restore a classic Mustang.
