We recently acquired this 1957 Triumph TR3 small mouth out of long term ownership. The car sat in a residential garage for almost 40 years, having been off the road since 1982.
The body shows typical rust damage in the outer sill panels, lower fenders and battery tray. Floors appear solid, although minor repair work is to be expected. The boot floor and spare wheel compartment all look solid, though it will need repair work to the boot lid gutter.
It is unlikely the car was driven much in winter, given the solid condition of the chassis frame. No visible rust damage, other than the obvious surface rust.
The engine turns by hand and will likely need a full rebuild. Standard 4-speed gearbox. Based on the numbers found on the car, body, engine and gearbox, we assume this to be a matching numbers car. We have not applied for a heritage certificate to certify this. It would be up to a prospective buyer to have this checked, should he or she wish to do so. Being a late model TR3, this small mouth Triumph is equiped with Girling hydraulic disc brakes. 84.017 mls on the odometer.
Although mostly complete, the TR is missing its convertible top frame and side screens. All parts pictured will be included with the sale. Any part that does not show up on the pictures should be considered missing.
A straightforward restoration project, everthemore interesting because of the TR3 small mouth's rarity and desirability, especially with disc brakes.
